Ángel José Cañizalez Martínez, salió de su residencia en la calle Guayamure de la población de Río Claro ubicada al sur de Barquisimeto estado Lara, en compañía de su vecino Antonio José Peralta quien es funcionario de la Policía Nacional Bolivariana (PNB).
Ambos bajaron el lunes para Barquisimeto en una moto propiedad de Ángel, fueron hasta la sede de la Universidad Nacional Experimental de la Seguridad (UNES), pues Ángel deseaba ingresar para formar parte de la PNB, se presentó y pasó la prueba, al hacerlo se comunicó con su familia y los mandó hacer una sopa para celebrar, e iban de regreso para Río Claro.
Cuando Ángel y Antonio José circulaban por la calle 12 con avenida Venezuela una camioneta Pickup blanca con una franja azul que según testigos venían a exceso de velocidad se los llevó por delante. Los vecinos que observaron el suceso mencionaron que los jóvenes salieron expelidos de la moto cayendo hacia una acera mientras el conductor se daba a la fuga.
Ángel y Antonio José cayeron, el primero quedó inconsciente con fractura en el brazo además de un fuerte golpe en la cabeza, mientras el funcionario estaba consciente pero muy mal herido, aseguraron los presentes. Una comisión de la Guardia Nacional llegó al sitio, se llevó la moto y los documentos de ambos lesionados mientras Protección Civil prestaba el apoyo a los heridos.
Ambos fueron trasladados hasta la emergencia del Hospital Central Antonio María Pineda, pero Ángel murió hasta el final de la tarde, Antonio José se mantenía afectado por el choque pero con vida.
