Asesinó a su esposa y sus cinco hijos en Sudáfrica
La noticia del asesinato de una mujer de 42 años y de sus cinco hijos, con edades comprendidas entre los seis meses y los 10 años, conmocionó hoy a Sudáfrica, mientras la Policía busca al marido, que permanece «desaparecido», para que ayude en la investigación.

Aunque no trascendieron hasta este jueves, los hechos ocurrieron en la noche del martes en la localidad de Dabekweni, en la región del Cabo Oriental (sureste de Sudáfrica), y en la escena del crimen -el propio hogar de la familia- se encontró un hacha que se cree que podría haber sido usada en el asesinato múltiple.

Por el momento, se conocen escasos detalles de la investigación y la Policía ve prematuro «especular» con posibles hipótesis, explicó hoy a Efe el portavoz policial Tembinkosi Kinana.

Las fuerzas de seguridad buscan al esposo de la mujer asesinada, de nacionalidad zimbabuense, cuyo paradero se desconoce. La Policía descubrió lo ocurrido cuando acudió al domicilio de la familia alertada por los vecinos, que sospechaban que algo extraño pasaba.

 
El Gobierno de Sudáfrica -un país en el que la violencia contra las mujeres y los niños representa un gran problema social, tanto dentro como fuera del entorno familiar- aprovechó la jornada de ayer para lanzar una campaña nacional de dieciséis días de activismo para concienciar sobre esta lacra.
 
«Es inconcebible que justo en la apertura de los dieciséis días de activismo nos despertemos con este horrible y angustioso incidente. Quienquiera que esté detrás de estos repugnantes y desalmados asesinatos debe ser encontrado sin demora», señaló el comisario Liziwe Ntshinga en un comunicado.
 
Pese a las recurrentes protestas de las asociaciones de mujeres en Sudáfrica, especialmente del movimiento conocido como “Am I next?» (¿Soy la siguiente?), y de las repetidas promesas del presidente del país, Cyril Ramaphosa, de convertir la lucha contra esta lacra en una prioridad nacional, la violencia contra las mujeres y los niños continúa siendo un frente sin grandes avances en Sudáfrica.//EFE
