to becoming Joker’s girlfriend Harley Quinn. The
pair hit it off at a music therapy class, and are soon mutually smitten, but Lee makes it clear that she loves
the dangerously charismatic Joker, ‘clown prince of crime’,
not the gloomily introspective Arthur.

‘Which is more real: the psychopath wearing the mask or the vulnerable fellow behind it?
Either way, identity confusion is the theme of this film, which keeps being billed as
a musical. 

‘It’s not, really, although music looms large as an expression of

Homebase has put 74 stores up for sale after the DIY chain fell
into administration.

The company has set a deadline of the end of next week for potential buyers to snap up its
remaining shops in the UK and Ireland. 

Homebase appointed administrators at consultancy Teneo after it was hit hard by an ‘incredibly challenging’ three years for the DIY sector.

Administrators struck a deal to sell the business to retail group CDS, which owns The Range and Wilko, securing the future of up to 1,600 jobs
and 70 stores.

However, the future of 2,000 other workers and its remaining stores
was left hanging in the balance.

They have set a deadline of November 29 for potential suitors to buy the remaining stores, amid efforts to secure more
funds for creditors.

Homebase’s collapse came amid reports that banking
giant Wells Fargo declined to extend the group’s lending facility due to concerns about its finances.

The concerns arose as the retailer waits for around £5 million to be remitted back to it in tax rebates.

financial years.

Alex Probyn, president of property tax at Altus Group,
said: ‘The appeal process is just far too slow and ultimately damaging to cash flow.

‘With business now facing the biggest tax increases
in three decades, the 2023 tax base must be corrected quickly to ensure that ratepayers not only receive their rebates timely but also have the confidence that
their bills have been set fairly.’

Providing, of course, that the bill was on someone else.
Because caviar, smeared on blinis or piled high on baked

but no one paid them much heed. This was all about lashings of the black
stuff.

And that site, hidden down a smart Mayfair mews, was taken over by Gavin Rankin (who used to be the boss), and transformed into the brilliant Bellamy’s.
It prospers to this day. Kaspia, on the other hand,
went quiet. Until last year, when she reopened as a members’ club in another Mayfair backstreet.
But a £2,000 a year membership fee proved hard to swallow, meaning the
doors were opened to the great unwashed.

Which is how we find ourselves sitting in a rather handsome – albeit near empty – dining room, lusciously lavish, under the stern gaze of a stern painting of a very
stern man. The soft, crepuscular gloom is broken up by the
glare of table lamps, indecorously bright, while a
loud soundtrack of indolent, indeterminate beats throbs in the background.

The whole place is scented with gilded ennui.

Our fellow diners are two young South Korean women of pale, luminescent
beauty, clad in diaphanous couture. They don’t speak, rather communicate entirely via
camera phone. Pose, click, check, filter, post. Immaculate waiters hover in the shadows.

We sip ice-cold vodka, and eat a £77 caviar and smoked-salmon Kaspia croque monsieur that tastes far better than it
ought to. Next door, a large table fills with a glut of the noisily, glossily confident.

We’re looked after by a wonderful French lady of such effervescent charm and charisma that
had she burst into an impromptu performance of ‘Willkommen’, we would have barely blinked.
Baked potatoes, skin as crisp as parchment, insides whipped savagely hard with butter and
sour cream, are a study in tuber art. A cool jet-black splodge
of oscietra caviar, gently saline, raises them to the sublime.
Only the price, at just under £150 each, is ridiculous.
But there are few better dishes on earth.
I’d eat this every day if I could. But I can’t. Obviously.

That’s the problem with caviar. One taste is never enough.

Another passage in the book revealed a very awkward encounter between Phil’s male
flatmate and Jackie’s mother Julie. 

‘My mum came over once and when no one answered the door,
she put her face to the screen to see inside and that
flatmate was right there in the living room, pants down,
w***ing,’ a shocked Tony read.

The revelations come after Jackie spoke for the first time
about her years-long battle with drugs which saw her secretly go to rehab at The Betty Ford Clinic
in November in 2022.

During a tearful on-air admission, Jackie said at
the height of her addiction, she took around 10-12 Stilnox/Ambien sleeping pills and 24 Panadeine Forte painkillers a day.
