FMI: Migración venezolana contribuirá al crecimiento del PIB en países receptores

El Fondo Monetario Internacional (FMI), en su apartado sobre temas económicos de América Latina reseñó, con estimaciones propias y con datos del la Organización Internacional para las Migraciones, los costos y beneficios económicos para los países que acogen la masiva migración venezolana.

Según el último estudio del organismo, la migración de Venezuela podría aumentar el crecimiento del Producto Interno Bruto (PIB) de los países que reciben a los migrantes entre 0,1 y 0,3 puntos porcentuales durante el período 2017-2030, tomando en cuenta la edad, el nivel de calificación y la cantidad de migrantes, así como el hecho de que la mayor parte de ellos han aceptado empleos de baja calificación en el sector informal.

“La adopción de políticas, por ejemplo de apoyo a la educación y a la integración en la fuerza de trabajo, podría ayudar a los migrantes a encontrar empleos mejor remunerados y, en última instancia, a mejorar las perspectivas de crecimiento de los países que los reciben”, reza el comunicado.

Sobre la crisis y el éxodo masivo, el FMI toma en cuenta la fuerte caída de la actividad económica en Venezuela, la cual se contrajo un 65 por ciento entre 2013 y 2019 como consecuencia de la aguda caída de la producción petrolera, el deterioro de las condiciones en otros sectores y los cortes generalizados de electricidad.

“Colombia es el país que ha recibido la mayor proporción, seguido por Perú, Ecuador, Chile y Brasil. Los flujos migratorios hacia algunos países del Caribe y Centroamérica han sido incluso mayores en relación con la población local, aunque menores en cifras absolutas”, destaca el FMI.

Señala el Cooperante que para 2023, el FMI proyecta que el número total de migrantes venezolanos podría alcanzar 10 millones. “De materializarse estas proyecciones, la masiva migración venezolana superaría a las crisis de refugiados anteriores, como la de Siria en la década de 2010 o la de Afganistán en la década de 1980”.
