El alcalde de Munich, el socialdemócrata Dieter Reiter, propuso iluminar con los colores del arco iris el estadio donde mañana jugarán las selecciones de Alemania y Hungría, como muestra de solidaridad con el colectivo LGBTI de ese país centroeuropeo. Reiter escribió a la UEFA pidiendo permiso, y este martes la respuesta oficial del organismo administrativo del fútbol europeo con sede en Nyon (Suiza) ha sido no.
“Según sus estatutos, la UEFA es una organización política y religiosamente neutral”, dijo este organismo en un un comunicado. “Dado el contexto político de esta solicitud, un mensaje dirigido a una decisión tomada por el Parlamento nacional húngaro, la UEFA debe rechazar esta solicitud”, concluye la nota.
Ante esta decisión, Reiter dijo sentirse «avergonzado» y «decepcionado» por la prohibición y avanzó que Múnich seguirá mandando una «señal clara» iluminando durante el encuentro de la Eurocopa con la bandera arcoiris el ayuntamiento, una noria y la torre de telecomunicaciones de la capital bávara.
«No creo que la UEFA se muestre así como una institución abierta y tolerante», consideró.
La idea de iluminar el Allianz Arena, que lanzó Reiter y apoyó todo el consistorio y el Gobierno bávaro, pretendía ser un símbolo de «respeto» y «solidaridad», en favor de la «igualdad» y la «libre determinación personal».
«Nosotros no nos dejamos impresionar. Independientemente de lo que diga la UEFA», agregó Reiter, que criticó expresamente la ley homófoba aprobada por Hungría contra la que se fraguó esta propuesta.
